Following on from our creation of the Minster School logo, we were pleased to be asked to create an identity for the Multi Academy Trust (MAT) that the school would become part of.

Creative Process

With the Minster being a historically significant element of not just the school — but the village of Southwell as a whole — it needed to be referenced within the new logo somehow. At the same time, it should also signify a new era for the school and look towards the future with a more contemporary design that won’t date quickly.

To that end, we began by selecting a simple, timeless, sans-serif typeface for clear legibility. Following that we developed an icon that incorporated the key aspects of the school trust to produce a symbol that could clearly identify the trust itself, their intentions as a welcoming, all-encompassing academy, as well as their historical connection to the Minster and everything it stands for.
