'Newark's' Best Village?
Fiskerton-cum-Morton makes top 10 best places to live list!
Every year the Sunday Times releases its list of the best places to live in Britain, and we're pleased to say a village near Newark has made the Top 10.
Fiskerton-cum-Morton is a beautiful village located just 7 miles outside Newark in the Trent Valley. It's actually kind of a village conurbation with two villages merging together to form one great place to live. Somewhat surprisingly, the community now features some of the fastest internet speeds in the UK after the residents, fed up with their poor reception, raised £100,000 and dug 12 miles of trenches to launch their own 1,000Mbps broadband service.
One thing I'm sure helped make the top 10 is that the village features two thriving pubs, The Bromley Arms on the river in Fiskerton and the wonderful Full Moon Inn at Morton. If you've never been to these fine establishments you should really give them a try, I'm in The Moon most Fridays if you want to stop by and say hello.
So, that's what the Sunday Times thinks, but what do they know? Let us know what you think is the best place to live in and around Newark and we'll put a list in our next newsletter and if you also want to tell us about your favourite local pubs, we'll make sure we pay them a visit - all in the name of research of course.
